Outdoor Furniture and Color Design for Summer 2016

Decorating in the summer can be extremely fun because you get to really introduce color where as inside you might not feel as bold.

Here is a fun color palette by Sherwin Williams you may want to consider for your outdoor color scheme in 2016.

Each year the paint brands each release their annual color mixes. The "Mas Amor Por Favor" color scheme by Sherwin Williams is a great one for exterior colors because they are fun and pop. This analogous color scheme is made up of all Tertiary colors (neither primary or secondary hues) and the green, brown and blue color bring in a nice "nature" element which would blend seamlessly in the outdoors. Sherwin Williams 2016 Color Forecast

If purple is not your favorite color, another color scheme option is the complementary color scheme of blue and orange, or in this case a coral.

Blue and orange are on the opposite ends of the color wheel and therefore compliment each other perfectly. When using a complimentary color scheme you would usually let one color be the dominant color, in this case blue, and the second color would act as your accent color, coral.

Pure complimentary colors (bright blue and bright orange) may be too intense for some people so using more subdued tones like navy and coral can help to tone it down. But with exterior decor you could go either way.

Another fun color idea for summer is the same complementary color scheme of blue and coral but switching up the base colors a tad to turquoise and red.

Again in this case, turquoise was selected as the dominant color and the red was brought in as a small accent.

Obviously as you can see I love blue especially for outside, another great match for blue is greens. This is more of an analogous color scheme as green and blue are next to each other on the color wheel. Also, since green and blue are colors found all over nature anyways they will easily go with outdoor surroundings. Make them pop with a bright white accent or ground them with warm wood tones.

Go bold outside, its an easy place to have some fun with color even if you are someone who loves your neutrals. Buy pieces that are an investment in your primary favorite color and smaller more inexpensive items like pillows in your accent color, this way they will be easy to switch out as you evolve each year and may want to bring in different colors over time.
